What’s new with me

Left Twitter because its owner is a fascist, racist, transphobe. Keep up with me here — and I greatly appreciate shares across Bluesky, Posts, or wherever you share ❤️‍🔥

(No media necessary)

Made a mini mix to kick off summer with Beyonce, Jessie Ware, Daft Punk, Mr. Fingers and more.

Feeling bows this summer, still upset my head is too large for the Acne Studios bow dress but I’ll live without it; Tanner Fletcher I’m coming for you babe.

View looks I like

Made an Arc Boost for SSENSE where you can’t purchase anything on the site. Would love need this kind of customization on apps because my cart is still full lol.

Assembled some of my favorite photos from my downtown Brooklyn apartment. I’m in Chelsea for the summer, say hi, and I’m thinking about showing some of these and more photos over the last few years in the studio soon! If you’re interested in seeing or shooting portraits, hit me up!

Made a new logo for working.from.hell, inspired by burned paper. I hope this newsletter finds you well…

Odds and ends

(NSFW) Casey Jones bought a computer from Goodwill for $10 and found it was filled with hundreds of written reviews for gay pornography, “thousands of pages of extremely professional work about men getting reamed”. DVD rips at the archive.org link. Not as profound as me seeing my first vintage porn that ushered in love for beaches and mustaches.

Haruko Hayakawa is a CG artist in Brooklyn, I’ve been recently overwhelmed by their work, especially with the way they’ve rendered things in an inflated or deflated way (more on that idea below) — they’ve done a bunch of brilliant things for tequila brands, skincare and beauty, handbags, but I think my favorite are their floral experiments.

5 Minute Crafts have always been comical, but my friend Amanda and I have been losing it over 5 Minute Recycle recently. “Watch out Bode!” ….. put these people in jail.

Plastic wrapped

⚠️ TW: mild imagery and writing references to suffocation

Penique Productions physically installs sheeting by inflating interiors, suffocating structures with thin, colored films.
Andrés Reisinger does a lot of soft pink CG work, but I’m particularly drawn to these drapes digital plastic over exteriors of buildings — reminds me of Valley Curtain (1972) from Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
HAL uses practical effects of physically wrapping plastic sheeting around environments and subjects to create suspended scenes. Wild that this not Photoshop.
Brian Roettinger uses minimal colors for Kesha’s most recent album artwork for Gag Order; beyond the jarring and uncomfortable artwork, I love her experimentation with vocals across the album, emulating gasping, struggling, and imperfection. A standout track: Peace & Quiet.

Shoes I want

Closing out today’s spottings by not checking out of my various shopping carts.

Bonnie Andrus’s Cactus slippers fell into my orbit again.
Francis Waplinger makes bespoke shoes — I’m too afraid to ask how much brushed bison costs on made to orders, so I’m just going to share in hopes someone else is willing to cough up the $$$.
GANNI has westernized some mules that are scratching my reconnection to being a Texan (still embarrassed by the state’s policies) — fem-modernizing staples in a queer is way. My dad was a cowboy and I never liked wearing boots but these will more than likely be copped on sale or at the outlet.
Arcana makes these horny exaggerated zippered loafers (not sure if they actually zip?) but I need someone to bonk me if I buy another pair of black shoes.
Balenciaga sneaks in fluorescent yellow. The heel-chin is strange in profile, but I find it to be so cool lookin, when viewed from above… which made me realize I’ve never cared about what shoes look like on my feet from MY perspective, but rather how they look to others.
Aluminae carrying on the rodeo with these moss green hair calf. These would’ve been acquired but the universe said “no” to me swiping my credit card because now the store is permanently closed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
VOLVER Workshop (pronounced vol-vair) has been sharing recent NYC-inspired and work in progress shoes — this gladiator sandal with blue patent leather is inspired by the A train, and I’m sure if you DM them very nicely they can make to order!
